the long answer:
let's just say i go to the local mcdonald's and start shouting, "gee, i could really go for a whopper right now. anybody else feel like a whopper? i'll bet you could get a whopper at burger king!"
that's just rude. plugging another board is like promoting a competitor in a store.
as far as your idea of pointing people in different directions for different needs, i'd like to think we're pretty self-suficient here, and have forums that cover a very very wide range of topics. if someone has a need of news, information, artistic outlet, advice, a kick in the right direction, or just some self-induced relaxation, we've got it. there's no need to go outside.
if you don't feel comfortable with that answer, then perhaps it's time to move on to another forum. we're quite happy with what we have going on here. we don't need a stranger to come in and tell us we're doing it all wrong and are running outdated software to do it (yes, that is a reference to your other thread).
