We where once having a discussion of the difference between American and Canadian currency and some European nations.
See, the Germans have Guass on one of their bills: and that's cool. As for Americans, they have various presidents on their coins and on their bills.
Canada, meanwhile, has various PM's on their bills, and the Queen on every coin.
We know some Americans use the name of the president on their bill as slang for that denomination. It isn't very popular in Canada. This lead to discussions about coin nicknames.
I put forward that we could use what is on the faces of Canadian coins to name them. I mean, it is pretty catchy.
You could call the dime the Queen's nose (it has a picture of the Bluenose, a famous Canadian ship). It works not quite as well for the other coins: they have various animals on the back side: call the loonie the Queen's loon, the penny the Queen's leaf, the quarter the Queen's moose, the dubloon the Queen's bear, and the nickle the Queen's beaver.
