This is a known problem. It can usually be fixed by installing the hard drive IDE drivers for your motherboard. I can't remember if you get the drivers from the hard drive site or motherboard site, but I do know that this fixes the issue in most cases. The distortion is fixed by installing the correct IDE drivers that are compatible with your hard drive.
