Help with a cable netowrk connection
I'm running an Aopen centrino 1.4 laptop with 1024MB ram, 60gig 7200RPM HDD, windows xp pro with all updates.
After I upgraded to this last HDD I started having problems with my cable connection. I'm on a 2mbps cable connection using my broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller (with lastest drivers). Everything seems okay, I have all the settings in place that the cable company gave me, but the connection just seems to freeze every once in awhile. I lose the connection. I am unable to repair it, and it's most certainly on my end. I have tried using the Ipconfig, release, renew approach. I have tried to reset the tcp/ip stack. Nothing seems to help. I have noticed that sometimes after trying one of these approaches it takes ages for the hardware to renew my IP address. My firewall (agnitum) reads it, but it reads as 0.00.00 for quite some time before it resets. Not a clue anymore what the problem could be. Today it started doing something it has never done before and has just slowed down my connection to a crawl.
Hoping someone can give me some insight into my problem of help me with it. Thanks in advance.
