EBM Lovers - Some lesser-known albums for you.
So, I've really been filling out my EBM card lately. Here are a few extremely worthy releases that you all should check into if you like EBM and Synthpop.
Echo Image - Compuphonic
This is PURE synthpop. It takes synth and pop and exploits every meaning of both words. It's arguably the 'gayest' sounding music that I've ever heard, but what makes it so enjoyable is that it's GOOD FUCKIN' MUSIC. If you have any sense of humility about your music, then you can listen to this album with no problem. Notable tracks are Standing Alone and Skurk. The site that I learned about this album from gave it a 10/10.
Solitary Experiments - Advance Into Unknown
This is a mix of styles within dark EBM. While the music is very skilled and layered, it's lyric-driven music like Assemblage 23. I've had this CD in my car for a few weeks and I enjoy it every time it comes on. The cool thing about EBM is that more artists produce albums where every single song is worth listening to. This is no exception. Some notable tracks are Miracle, Do You Feel, Secrets, Wasteland, Paradise.
Seize - The Other Side Of Your Mind
This is less EBM than it is dark trance. Dance music with slightly repetetive lyrics. The female voice is very soothing and addictive. I played this in my car for my sister and she immediately wanted a copy. Notable tracks are The Other Side, Don't Let Me, Unbreakable, Eyes Water, Because of Me.
Emergence - The Science of Suffering
I'm listening to this right now. It's got great page and a good mix of harsh and gentle. The whole album is a good listen straight through with a few songs that you'll listen to over and over. Some notable tracks are Scarred, Blue Muse, The Tower, Shahda.
Some singles that I've really enjoyed:
Seabound - Smoke
Glis - Resolution
Evil's Toy - Style
Stromkern - Night Riders
Ayria - Horrible Dream
Well.. hope you check 'em out and enjoy. Feel free to suggest some other lesser-known EBM.
