I saw a dying man yesterday
Yesterday, as I was leaving work, I came across a car accident that must've happened just minutes earlier. Only a single traffic cop and a few passersby were helping the injured. For some reason, the image of this guy really bothered me. A middle class man, not unlike myself, laying in the middle of an otherwise busy intersection stairing up at the sun above while blood trickled down his forehead and dripped from his ears on the pavement below. How horrible and frightening that must've been. Friday afternoon, just getting out of work, looking forward to a nice weekend to do stuff with the wife and kids, and CRASH! BAM! Ugh, I just hope it wasn't someone I work with... and I really hope they survived. I don't even know where the driver of the other car was.
Maybe the thing that bothered me most is thinking "that could've been me if I would've left a minute earlier." For a good hour after I felt like I was gonna puke. I can't imagine how you EMT guys deal with that every day.
I guess all I can say is that I hope nothing like happens to me or anyone I know.... that includes my TFP family too... be careful out there guys.
