If you are carrying concealed, a 4" barrel is probably the outside edge of what can be hidden gracefully, and I would personally go shorter. If you are carrying open, a 4" barrel is perfect, as it is as long as most people can comfortably carry without the barrel dragging on things and getting in the way. For anything else, go with the 6" barrel. The additional accuracy and ballistic performance is so very worth it.
