So I led him on for ten minutes, making up all kinds of details about the house, the cars, the street, etc, and could hear mounting excitement in his voice. We arranged "Sometime Wednesday evening", and I finished the call with "Oh, though make sure to call me half an hour before you come, so I can go and collect the wheels from the lock up for you".
"Oh" <disappointed> "So... you don't keep the wheels at your house then?"
"No."
Never heard from him again

Hah! Good move on your part. I recently sold a pair of studio monitors for $1,000 on Craigslist and had a man who really wanted to test-drive them. I agreed, but kept on reminding him that there was no way I'd do the test at my house (ie where my $$$ studio is  )
