he didn't resort to violence, the bullies resorted to violence. they could have just teased him and whatnot but they hit him first. if someone teases me i will think twice about hitting them, but if they
hit me then i'll be hitting them back immediately. i can see why someone would be upset because he used a pencil, but imo if he just fought back without the pencil then no one should be upset.
