McCain was on NPR this morning and said that he had no interest in being Secretary of Defense. He believes he can be more effective and influence greater reform as a senior senator.
I also have to say that while on a certain level I like the idea of having a bipartisan cabinet, placing another Republican in the Pentagon just furthers the myth that Democrats are weak on defense.
