Cryptie

I know monitor repair is a dying art but I hope someone here has an idea that could help me. I have a Gateway EV900 Monitor that has worked awesome for over 2 years for me and had been owned by someone else for a few years previous to that. Within the past few months though if the brightness or contrast is above maybe 13% bright and 40% contrast the monitor will blink out if a white page is opened like say a blank IE window. It has gotten increasingly worse this week to the point that it is barely viewable at the brightness level without the blinking happening. I guess my question is whether anyone has ever seen this before and if anyone has any ideas of where to start looking for the problem. Thanks
