I agree the difference is multiplayer/singleplayer and it doesnt matter to me what you do offline. But how many people actually play offline?
The point of a Random Dungeon is so you don't run up kill mob, exit, repeat. So if you use it online your getting a major advantage on Mephy runs, Baal runs. Chances are you can do probably 8-10 runs in the time it takes a real player 4-5.
You'll never get the same respect like that.
As for me using strategy guides, answer is yes and no. I always play the game through 2 times. First to beat it normally getting whatever I run across. Second I beat it taking my time and looking more indepth for items or quest pieces.
(for example the first time I beat FF-X I didnt have any of the celestial weapons and didnt even have the celestial mirror, the second time I got a few of the weapons and the mirror but couldnt find many of the powerups. Very poor quest hinting in that game)
Then, if the game is worthwhile then I'll use a strategy guide to pick up an item or two I may have missed.
I'm not exactly sure how you compare actual hacking to using a strategy guide though :\
