Notice how I said you could play as a Registered User? Well if you remember back in the day, there were the Registered Users and the Unregistered Users. The Registered people usually got something nice for paying the desired amount......... but you could still play with no pay. This game's 'Demo' allows user to play with registered players. With the download you will get all of the maps and special abilities. What you won't get you wonder? 2 of the 8 playable classes. You won't get the Monk or the Wastelander. These guys can lay down nukes/anglefires that will lay waste to every enemy and/or contruction that stands in its way. Aside from the ability to heal and ammo everyone on the team (and get XP for doing so).
Yes, I said XP.. This is a FPS with RPG elements. First there's XP that you get for helping out the team or by killing the enemy. XP will get you levels. Now just what do levels do? Well when you create your character (which you must do so that you can change your name off of Default), you create it by changing the DETAILS of the character.. Dex, Energy, Tenacity, Agility, Intelligence, Life, and Strength. Each helps you out in a different way. Also this means that at first level you could potentionally start out with 250 health... which means after first lvl a lvl 11 people may have problems killing you. Your level doesn't make you imposible to kill. It just means that you've been upgraded. One level puts all of your DETAILS up by 1 point. So you have weapons, thats cool.. they pretty fun to use (class specific weapons). There are are class specific skills, most of these work in a non offensive matter. They might increase the defense of all non living structures in a redius near it.. others might heal EVERYTHING every tick, or give wallhack to members near it. Others still will drop an icon that allow players to run over them and gain buffs to one of their stats or give them a special ability. There are a few that are defensive and do dmg to the enemy. The Monk and Wastelander though have their third skill (the most powerful of your skills is the third) is the Nuke. Offensive and deadly if not disarmed.
One thing, this game can have a steep learning curve. It is a clone of no other, and so you're going to need to learn the ropes. There are two extremely helpful methods to this.
1) Check out the controls. This should be fairly obvious though as you need to know how to play. But there are skills, as well as some items you can pray for and use when you activate them. Me personally, I change all my controls, but thats because I play ESDF style as opposed to the common WASD style.
2) The Online Manual/FAQ. I know a lot of people don't care to read these, but again this game isn't exactly a clone of anything you've ever played before. This is sooooooooooooo extremely useful even if you think you know how to play, this'll help you out. If you read this first, I can garuntee that the learning curve will become profoundly easier. So if you have the time, please give it a run through.
Here, you can be lazy and even get a
link to the manual.
One thing thats awesome about this team? They are constantly listening to us players in the forum. Patches come out to fix any bugs or balance issues. They'll even add features that are requested. Bugs just give fixed, as for the other things.. we talk about it, and if its more than just one person agreeing, there's a good chance it will get implemented.
If you do enjoy the game, think about registering for the added classes and supporting the team that put this all together.
So far we (the players) are a small group. Its a new group and they didn't exactly have a couple thousand to throw around for publishing to get known. So the only real way to get known is through Word of Mouth. So from my Mouth (ok Keyboard) to you... go check it out! Hopefully I'll see you in the game sometime.

If you played the OLD Quake Mod --> FvF (Future Vs. Fantasy).. this is made by the same team. Remember Hap? Yep he coded this too. Its essentially a sequel to FvF.

Enjoy!
