It's impossible to shop for my mother. She's not a very materialistic person. She has enough socks, scarves, gloves, lotions, and perfumes to last her a lifetime. She has read most of the books I'd think about buying her, she doesn't listen to too many CDs and never watches television.
So while I did get her a little lame-ass gift anyway, I also decided to make a $25 donation to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
My mom doesn't have cancer, but she knows many people who do (as I'm sure we all do), and she has done things in the past to try and raise awareness and money. So this gift was in honor of her concern for the disease.
So if you don't know what to get your mom, why not make a donation to a charity that you know she's concerned with? It could be
cancer,
arthritis,
diabetes,
AIDS,
Parkinson's,
Alzheimer's...the list goes on and on. (unfortunately.)
If you like this idea and decide to do it, post the charity you've donated to here.
Happy Mother's Day. I'm going to go make a "your mom" joke to my best friend now.
