Cynthetiq I see what you're saying, but I believe when you're out there that's a risk you have knowingly taken on. If you don't want to risk it, then stay out of their territory. It's not like we haven't got plenty of our own territory where that's not much of a risk.
I go hiking a lot and I don't bring a gun with me. If I stumble upon an animal I'll do my best to get out of the situation alive. Isn't that what most people do? I've never known many hiker's to carry more than a knife.
Plus, I never said self defense wasn't a good reason to shoot animals or even people. But that's not really the same thing as hunting .
