The train gets into Penn Station, which is 33rd and 7th -- puts you smack dab -- almost in the middle of Manhattan -- the subways run everywhere from that central point.
After 5, depending on what your interests are, are window shopping on 5th avenue, you can walk into st patricks cathedral and wander around (5th and 42nd)
I'm not up much on the hip bar scene or the hot ttrendy clubs - -the south street seaport - and I am drawing a blank on what subway stop it is -- is great on a nice evening -- good people watching - nice bars and restaurants -- boats.
The Empire State building is on the avenue - not far from penn station -- and is open fairly late -- if it's a clear nite, it's worth the ride to the observation deck.
I still cant bring myself to go down to ground zero -- too many horrific memories attached - -but others seem to think it's the thing to do.
There's lots of shopping - if you are in lower manhattan - Century 21 is a dream store -- designer clothes and such at steals -
