These two are very different. The most glaring thing is that McCain does not pander to the religious right.
McCain is fiscally conservative and socially moderate mirroring the views of most of mainstream America. He is pro-choice, believes heavily in freedom of speech, and really looks for a seperation between church and state. Bush continues to try and censor the airwaves, funds faith based initiatives and is pro-life.
From a fiscal standpoint, in general the people of this country who pay taxes are willing to do so to a point but overall want to be rewarded for more work (or more investment as the case may be). Risk and return is a cornerstone to capitalism and McCain consistantly defends that.
