Under the American's With Disabilities Act (ADA), bipolar disorders are considered a disability, and it is against the law to have an potential employer ask about your mental health before making you a job offer. Doesn't mean companies don't still do it, but if they are caught, they are in violation of the law.
If asked, you aren't in a position to not be honest about the answer, I don't think it's necessary to volunteer the information about what medication that you are on.
I have taken so many drug tests over the years, for various jobs, and from what I understand, they are not looking for prescription drugs, they are looking for illegal drugs that would hamper your job performance. WHen you take the drug test, you are generally asked to sign something that it's OK to test, and you can volunteer any medication you are currently on, I don't know if that's the same in all fields.
Good luck
