The only reason Kerry is the canidate for the Democratic party is that the Democrats thought he might be able to beat Bush. Maybe he will, Bush is no saint, but he doesnt change his story to whatever sounds good.

See, that's the thing. A Senator is not a direct mouthpiece for the state he is elected to. Your congressman is your direct mouthpiece whose job is to actually speak for the specific people who elected him. A senators job is much more encompassing. Not only is he expected to represent your state, but the nation as a whole. He has the duty to think of the NATIONAL interest. Not just the local one. So don't complain if he doesn't pander to the state as your congressman does. It's not his job to. That's the way a republic works.
