Actually from what I've learned it's actually just turned inside out. I may be wrong but this is how I understood it. I found it actually quite interesting.
As to their acceptance in hollywood? I have a feeling they will attract quite a bit of attention from the news people for a while. Anything that's shocking to the general public is "newsworthy". In the shortterm they will get plenty of publicity and may be "useful" to producers (I'm guessing here). Longterm? I think enough people are uncomfortable about unconventional sexual tastes that they will be shunned. I hope not really.
