Sure. And if America was like North Korea, not letting people leave, you'd have a point.
In Canada, 18% of the population chose to live here. The rest chose to stay here. In my province, 1 in 4 people where born elsewhere, and chose to come to Canada. And they are as Canadian as I am.
Your country is your choice. If you choose not to choose, that is your choice as well.
It isn't a huge part of one's identity, but it is part of it.
