Hey guys, as I posted in another thread I'm getting ready to make a switch from the dreaded ME to windowsXP. Sadly, xp is a 2 letter word and not search function friendly, so sorry if these have been rehashed to death, just point me in the right direction if that's the case.
Question the first and foremost-What's the deal with privacy and xp? I remember hearing about a big brother aspect to xp that you could disable, but this was during launch, and it's been a very successful os, so I would assume it's regular hordes of naysayers, but better safe and stupid than sorry down the road.
Can I set up my desktop to have a random image from a specific directory everytime I reboot? Seems like it'd be ultra simple to code if it's not a part of the os, would just need a program that picked a random file in a directory and renamed it to a specific name and just throw it in startup. If it's not part of xp, is there a program freeware that I can get to do this like I described?
I have cable internet access (just two weeks ago, must be upgrade month
) The install guy came in plugged it in, and as far as I could tell did a ping or two and left. Will I need to call my cable company for any settings to have on hand before hand? ala numbers specific to my computer/connection.
Are there any 'hidden' features I should know about that are new to xp?
Is xp really going to cook, clean, and service me properly?
I think that's about all, thanks to anyone who can help me out.
