The hot LI band was called the Hassles, and actually had a decent selling album but broke up before they hit it big. Joel and drummer Jon Small left and formed a very metal band called Atilla. They made an album where Joel and Small dressed as huns on the cover, it was a horrid album in sales and production. But the reason Atilla broke up was Joel ended up having an affair with Small's wife, who became Joel's first wife.
Jon Small later worked with Joel as road manager, production coordinator and so on.
Ok...... 1 more Billy Joel question. before Turnstyles Joel used pretty much session players and didn't have a true band. Who was the first true permanent band member? (This band member pretty much brought in the rest by his advice and recommendations to Billy.)
