I'm sort of with Sparhawk on this one. You know the Greeks used to be into this a bit, from what I've heard, and it was all about one word : DOMINATION. You could take anyone in the a$$ you wanted to, but it was humiliating to give up your a$$ to someone else. I think it's mostly related to this issue, and if there's a little pain or discomfort, all the better, or a little taboo and naughtiness, it just makes the act of submission more satisfying.
