If you're on the pill, or any other type of medication, check the side effects, because 'vaginal dryness' could potentially be a side effect to anything. I've never really had a problem in that department, but i invested in some lube anyway... best stuff i've ever tried, it's called 'Eros' it's kind of expensive, but it's my 'miracle lube' it can be used as massage oil as well because it's water based, doesn't block pores at all (so you won't break out or anything yucky like that) and the more friction that is applied, the better it works.... give it a shot perhaps?
Aside from that, all i can say is "if it hurts, don't do it" *shrugs*
