I think the Dillon trade is a great move for the Pats, but I also agree with the above statement.
I don't agree that he won't fit in with the short passing game as wrongfullyaccuzd suggested though. I'm pretty sure the Pats ran that offense because they didn't have the running game. The were terrible at running out the clock because, while they could trust Smith not to put the ball on the carpet, they couldn't trust him to grind out first downs. I'd like to think that if Weis and Belicheck will know how to use a weapon like Dillon. we will see though.
I'm curious about the whole team chemistry this year. People like Bruschi and Harrison are really going to have to step up in the locker room. If Ty Law is on the team next year he won't be helpful, but the man wants his money, and he will be cut next year, so it's in his best interest not to tank it on the field. That said who knows what he will be like when not on the field. Dillon is saying all the right things now, lets hope they are true.
Should be an interesting season for the pats. the AFC east should be pretty good and everyone they face will be gunning for them. I hope it's not like the 02-03 season where they missed the playoffs totally, but it wouldn't shock me.
<< on the subject of distractions... the year terry glenn did his thing the pats won the superbowl. Last year even though the team really was an emotional mess after the lawyer milloy trade they pulled themselves together after a horrible loss to the bills and had an amazing season. This year I hope they can repeat that sort of thing with a grumpy Ty Law. >>
