I think you missed the point of the question. The interesting and, thus, important thing about the problem is that the water level will not change
regardless of how much, or little, the density of water changes. So, even if ice was half as dense as water, it still wouldn't change the water level. Now,
that's cool (mind the pun)!
It's analgous to why bodies fall at the same rate, regardless of their mass. Good luck with your physics homework...
