I guess I'm making a mistake somewhere...
Here's what I am doing in problem 1....

54 = [integral from 0 to 6] (F / 6)(x) dx = (Fx^2) / 12 [0 to 6] = 3F - 0 = 3F

Since W = F * D.... 54 / 3 = Force = 18
Since F = -k*x, k = -18 / 12 = -3/2

So, W = [integral from 0 to 12] (3/2)(x) dx = 108 in/lb.
