New Testament help.
The text below is a rough translation of a piece of text from the Bible. It initially appeared in Krzysztof Kieslowski's film Three Colors: Blue. Since I was watching the movie with subtitles, I had to translate it into English, so it's very rough. It's really great, and I'm very keen on finding out where exactly this piece of text might come from. I'm pretty sure I've read in the movies ending credits, though in French, that it comes from the New Testament. Does anyone recognize this, and might point me in the right direction?
If I spoke in the angel’s language
And I had no love
I’d be nothing but copper ringing
If I had the gift of prophesizing
And I had no love
I’d be nothing
Love is patient
Love is full of good.
It bares anything.
It expects everything.
Love never stops.
Because if there are prophecies – they will seize.
If languages – they’ll stop.
If knowledge – it will turn into nothing.
Prophecies – will seize.
Languages – will fall silent
Only thing that’s left
Is faith, hope and love
But of the three
Love is the greatest.
Oh, and if it helps, these are the last words spoken in the movie.
