I just came across a bit of info regarding boxing, so I am going to share it, even though it means replying to my own post.
I came across a newsbit about NBC showing a few boxing matches, and that they want to try and push boxing on its stations.
Anyway, here is the article:
Quote:
TV or not TV
Lightweight contender Juan Diaz (23-0, 11 KOs) will take on Martin O'Malley in a 10-round main event at the Pechanga Casino in Temecula, Calif., on NBC at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Archak Ter-Meliksetian and Nurhan Suleymanoglu (say those names three times fast) will meet in an eight-round welterweight match in the co-feature. This will kick off a series of consecutive shows on NBC for Main Events, which is trying to get boxing back on network TV. The shows were a success last fall, posting better ratings than golf. ...
The Boxing Writers Association of America will hold its annual awards dinner at the Marriott Marquis in midtown at 7:30 Friday. James Toney will receive the Fighter of the Year award, Freddie Roach the Trainer of the Year award and veteran New York trainer Jimmy Glenn the James J. Walker award for long and meritorious service.

If you are around Saturday, it might be neat to check this out.. If not, set your VCR.
I'd still appreciate answers and suggestions regarding my initial questions above, but also wanted to share this to those that may not have been aware NBC will be broadcasting a few fights in the upcoming days.
Take care.
