Gosh! Psychological case much? Sounds like maybe the guy had, ahem, issues that revolved around his being unable to completely dominate his wife or his children. So he wastes money mishandling a business so he can be "God".
Or maybe I'm just bitterly casting aspersions - those kinds of bosses always accelerate you down the metaphorical road to that eventual destination of "bartending sucks, I quit".
