Expect to blow up your system a few times. It's like anything else - you learn from your mistakes - and part of learning Linux is making some big mistakes when you start out.
Just remember, it's almost always YOUR FAULT and not Linux's. Like was said above - some of these mistakes you'll make that will "blow up" your system are the equivalent of deleting C:\Windows to a Windows user.
