My story is similar to the first one that Balderdash shared. I had just arrived in Belgium and was cruising the local scene with friends until about 2 in the morning, when I stopped at a late-night corner shop to get a lamb kebab on a stick.
I was unbelievably sick with diarrhea, a fever and nausea for the entire day. The only way I was able to stay away from the toilet was by downing enough dramamine to knock me out.
I was eventually okay by the next day, but my stomach reacted poorly to food for the next week. I think the moral of the story is not to buy sketchy meat in the middle of the night. Or to at least have good stomach medicine on me at all times.
