If it's a problem, then alcohol is just the same as any other drug - not a lot of fun. I used smack for about 12 years and gave up 8 years ago. Now I drink. Hopefully I'll stop before it kills me.
Sympathy - depends on the circumstances. It's a bit odd to have a rule on the matter.
