So, I am an American, by blood, by heritage and by destiny. And, by the way, I'm also pretty damn proud of it.

Thats the point, man.
You know your family came from Germany... my family, I have no clue, maybe some were Vikings, some where Normans, some were Picts, some where Jews... yes all people's and nations have evolved, but America only has a very modern history - and thats what I mean by blood and soil nationalism... Americans may be proud of their flag, or their constitution, or their conduct in WWII, or many other things - but I dont think there is the same basic, this land is a part of me feeling that European nationalism is based on, unless you are an Indian of course.
