I would highly recommend the Mankind Project. From their website:
Quote:
The ManKind Project™ is a progressive and non-sectarian, non-partisan alternative to other men's organizations. The Project has two goals. The first is to initiate men into a mature masculinity, to lead lives of integrity, connection to feeling, and a renewed responsibility for their personal mission in the world. Through weekend "training adventures" and continuing on into post-training "integration groups," men are challenged in deeply personal ways to look at who they are and how they make choices and live behaviors which work and don't work for them.
The second goal is to be of service to the community. Both as individual men with a reinvigorated sense of compassion and personal responsibility, and as communities of men who share a close-knit bond, The ManKind Project™ has racked up more than 300,000 recorded volunteer hours. The service focus that has particularly emerged is mentoring. The Chicago and San Diego communities have developed programs ("Young Warrior" and "Boys to Men") which mentor boys 12 - 16 in experiential mentorship programs. Men in the Milwaukee community have developed a program based in Kenosha-area schools for mentoring youth of color. Whether it's working with emotionally disturbed boys in Philadelphia or mentoring at-risk youth in Virginia, providing alternatives to incarceration in Houston or counseling for domestic abuse in Washington, D.C., the Project has been making quiet and important contributions to improving the quality of life for families and communities throughout this country and in England and Canada.
