I stopped cold turkey 5 months ago, with succes!
for an over the hump day, yes, I found the fourth day starting getting a tiny bit easier (I didn't yell that day and smiled for a second or so...) after that... second week, still difficult but not comparable to the first 3 days...
Then slowly, you find yourself from thinking every second at cigarettes to every minute, then hours and then, hey!, not once in the whole day you thinked about a cigarette.
If you want to set milestones, go for the fours (four days, four weeks, four months, ...)
I hope you succeed!

Amerika by Franz Kafka
“As Karl Rossman, a poor boy of sixteen who had been packed off to America by his parents because a servant girl had seduced him and got herself a child by him, stood on the liner slowly entering the harbour of New York, a sudden burst of sunshine seemed to illumine the Statue of Liberty, so that he saw it in a new light, although he had sighted it long before. The arm with the sword rose up as if newly stretched aloft, and round the figure blew the free winds of heaven.”
