I'd go for a Subaru as well. You get all the performance of a sportscar, with enough "soft-roading" ability to boot. But as the lady will use it for "Business travel" more than anything else, I'd go for a Legacy Outback. The Outback is a good enough "soft-roader", in case she wants to do a bit of off-roading. No hardcore 4x4 allowed, though.
