Best advice I could give - your friends won't set you up with a freak because they're looking out for your best interest. Siblings too, especially those of the opposite sex - as much as you may not want to rely upon them for your love life, they really wouldn't introduce you to someone they didn't like, since the person is a potential mate and therefore family member.
There are lots of nice girls out there - don't give up looking for them because most of them are also on the verge of giving up on finding a "nice guy".
