There have been cases where the manic stage of a person with Bipolar disorder has been confused with the hyperactivity commonly found in a person with ADHD. Both disorders have at times been treated with Ritalin but when Ritalin, or another stimulant is presribed to a person with Bi-polar it can sometimes induce a manic stage if it isn't taken with a mood stabilizer.

Beyond these things there really isn't much connection, that I know of, between these two disorders.

My mother has training in working with children who have learning diabilities, Dyslexia, Hyperkinesis, and ADHD. She believes that I have ADHD and has tested me accordingly. I don't suffer from many of the common symptoms as an adult though I did have numerous problems in school and as a child. She worked with me trying to teach me coping strategies and I think some of them worked. If nothing they just helped me become more disciplined.
