This brings up a question, on my trip to the US i saw a lot more "crappy" cars than here in germany, not only when it comes to tires. Is that legal? do you have something like the "Technical Inspection Agency" that controls the cars from time to time?
Driving with bald tires would be illegal here in germany, so I'm just wondering.
