I'm not a techie, so I am new to these waters, but...
ICANN (
http://www.icann.org) is in the process of reviewing applications for new top level domains -specifically, new sponsored top level domains.
Primer:
Top level domains are the extensions at the end of domain names (.com, .net, .us, .info, etc)
Sponsored top level domains are supposed to be TLDs that serve the needs of a specific community (e.g., .museum, .aero, .coop)
Rumored applications this time around are, for example, .mobile and .tel, for mobile devices.
My question is this - do any of you care?
