But you know how many people they prosecute? In America there are currently 2 MILLION criminals in prison. Indonesia has 62, 886, with only 29 prisoners per 100,000 people, or 1 in every 3500 people. The US incarceration rate is 686 per 100 000, or 1 in 200 people. Louisiana and Texas have a 1/100 rate.
This traditional practice of punishment for criminals is a result of a people with strong values that I believe is justified. Perhaps if we had a better way of dealing with criminals instead of letting them think how much the system sucks in jailcells, there would be less crime in america.
