I got a Vaio laptop about six months ago, and I've been pretty happy with it. No major problems (or none that I couldn't fix myself, at least...)
From the small amount that I've used it, their web-based support seems a little lacking. I get the impression that since Sony is so huge and their computers are just a small part of the company, they don't go all out for things like tech-support. So if you're not so tech-savvy or whatever, you might want to go with a more "user-friendly" company.
