I have to disagree with this as well. My gf gets off really hard from penetration, more so than clitoral.

I personally also enjoy penetration, but I cannot speak for the majority, and the majority says they prefer clitoral to penetration.
When I said "When women masturbate it's actually quite rare that a female uses penetration to get off," I was referring to my Human Sexuality textbook. This is what it says about penetration:
Quote:
In contrast to the male myth (Kinsey and his colleagues [1953] describe it as a "male conceit") that women usually masturbate by simulating penile thrusting through the insertion of fingers or phallic objects into their vaginas, relatively few women actually do (Hite, 1976; Kinsey et al., 1953). Hite reported that only 1.5% of her respondents relied exclusively on vaginal insertion as a means of masturbation. Kinsey and his colleagues found that only one in five women had sometimes used vaginal insertions of objects during masturbation. Some women first experimented with the technique of vaginal insertions but then gave it up as they became more familiar with their sexual anatomy and capabilities. Others practiced the technique because their male partners found it sexually stimulation to watch them engage in this type of activity. Still, some women reported experiencing erotic pleasures from deep vaginal penetration.
Truth or Fiction? Revisited. It is not true that most women masturbate by inserting a finger or other object into the vagina. Most women rely on clitoral stimulation.
Even when women do use insertion, they usually precede or combine it with clitoral stimulation. Sex shops sell dildos, which women can use to rub their vulvas or to insert vaginally. Penis-shaped vibrators may be used in a similar fashion. Many women masturbate during baths, some by spraying their genitals with water-massage shower heads.

While some parts of the Kinsey study are considered invalid, like the homosexual questions (they classified peeing with another man as a homosexual experience), this part of the questionnaire was not listed as one of them. Also, I should note that Hite used Cosmopolitan readers as her survey group in some of her studies, which has been shown not to reflect the whole of society. I do not know if this particular citation was part of one of her Cosmopolitan based studies. Anyway, feel free to disagree with me. There really aren't a whole lot of studies to reference to in this area as far as I'm aware. But if you want to go based on your personal experiences, I will just tell you that mine are the complete opposite. It may come as no surprise that I talk about sex a lot. I've talked with countless women (exceeding 50, but I don't know how many exactly because I talk to everyone, including strangers) and only one other woman has said that she actually gets off on penetration alone.
