Having people self-report what they view their behaviour is an ok way to probe at people's self image: even then, people do distort their self image with the image they want to project when they fill out a survay.
It isn't at all a good way to find out how people actually behave. =p~
Which makes me think how you would actually do this? Would take alot of work to detect various bias' and lies by the participants. Hard.
