Some local health food stores carry Mate. I had ordered a cheap brand of Yerba Mate a few months ago, and it had the stems in with the tea leaves. It made the tea taste bitter and as my friend called the flavor " Leather Shoe Tea" .
Everyone will ask you what the hell it is you have in your hands when you walk around with a gourd and metal straw. Then they peer into the cup of tea and make a disgusted face. I can't stand to drink carbonated beverages anymore. They contain phosphoric and carbonic acid so that the carbonation will stay in the soda itself. Along with all the excess sugar and other weird chemicals, I choose not to drink Coke or any brand of pop . I'd rather keep my biochemistry in order.
