One of my favorite moves in KOTOR was leading the group with a side-character, and then watching the main character do his own thing in combat. If in a big area, my main character would jump like 1/4 of a mile towards the enemies back and forth slaughtering them in one round before I could even get the secondary characters there.
It's really damn cool to see your main character from a different perspective...that's why I used Bastila, Jolee, or Juhani in my group. The Jedi were always ready to kick ass and take names.
Not saying that Carth and Canderous didn't take names with their huge ass blasters, though!
