NY-Boston opener to be televised nationally

Full story

"The network said Tuesday it would open its 2004 baseball coverage April 16 at 8 p.m. ET when the Yankees visit the Red Sox, the first game between the teams that counts since Game 7 of the American League Championship Series last season.

It would be the first regular-season network game in prime-time on a week night since Sept. 8, 1998, when Mark McGwire hit his 62nd home run."

I think we can all agree, regardless of where our loyalties lie, that this is the best rivalry in baseball if not in all of (American) sports. And personally, I think it's great for the game of baseball itself. But do you guys think that maybe baseball is relying too heavily on it? I mean it's a great story, but do you think that maybe other stories that have marketing potential are being overlooked? Is baseball doing the right thing by focusing solely on the Yankees-Red Sox?

And yes, I realize this is Fox, not the MLB. But you get the point.
