Yes.
I do, however, see many folks expounding at length, seemingly unaware they are simply extrapolating from some highly suspect assumptions.
Basic assumptions in science are always posited, never hidden, and do not contaminate inquiry.
Again, it's a very valuable exercise to root out hidden assumptions. And it's key to unlocking significant strands of thought and promoting understanding.
